Our Story

A New Orleans Landmark

Since 1933, Ye Olde College Inn has been a gathering place for generations of New Orleanians. Founded by the Rufin brothers — Denis, Albert & Emile — the College Inn quickly became the neighborhood’s living room.

In 2003, the Blancher family took the reins with a mission to honor the Inn’s heritage while elevating the food. After Hurricane Katrina, Johnny Blancher reopened in fewer than 90 days — salvaging lumber from the original building to build the new space next door. Today, Chef/Owner Johnny Blancher leads a kitchen rooted in quality, tradition, and a commitment to cooking with the finest ingredients.

Our History Our Story in the Press

“You had Pelican Stadium on one side, Tulane Stadium on the other, and College Inn was in the middle.”

— John Blancher
